Glossary of Osteopathic TerminologyThe Glossary of Osteopathic Terminology (Glossary) is created by the Glossary Review Committee sponsored by the Educational Council on Osteopathic Principles (ECOP) of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM). This current version of the Glossary was last revised in 2004. We have retained the 2002 version here as well. Updated versions will be made available once published by the AACOM. Glossary of Osteopathic Terminology copyright (c) 2002, 2004 American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Permission to utilize the Glossary of Osteopathic Terminology, as a resource for Inter Linea, was granted by the AACOM. Additional information regarding the AACOM and its functions as an Osteopathic institution may be found at their website: http://www.aacom.org/. About the GlossaryThe Glossary is the official document that defines key terms utilized in Osteopathic practice. The words defined in the Glossary are most, but not all, of the technical terms utilized by Osteopaths throughout the world. The Glossary is updated on a periodic basis because new terms must be added and old terms must be updated. The Glossary only includes the agreed upon Osteopathic terms and is not meant to be an all-encompassing document that includes all terms used by all Osteopaths throughout the world. The Glossary does include the core lexicon of Osteopathic terminology and is thus considered to be the world-wide standard. Glossary of Osteopathic Terminology
